Staying focused has never been as important as it is now. COVID-19 cases worldwide have surpassed five million, and the death toll stands at more than 300,000. It’s natural, in such times, to be anxious and stressed. But it’s also possible to overcome this dreary state.
The desire for greater wellness has never been as urgent as it is now. It’s sad that the world has been brought to its knees by a microscopic, invisible virus—but it is what it is.
And we have to deal with the situation as best we can.
What started as a wet market outbreak in Wuhan in 2019 has now spread like wildfire throughout the world. People watched from the remotest corners of the world as the virus spread: rapidly and unceasingly. As it continued to grow and wreak havoc around the world, one thing became increasingly certain: nobody was safe.
The virus has now spread to 213 countries, and is shows no signs of stopping. Although airports are largely closed these days, local transmission still continues. The death toll continues to grow, and economies are expected to collapse in some parts of the world.
In the United States, as well as around the world, people are still coming to terms with the magnitude of the destruction caused by the virus. Thousands have been “laid off” by their employers. Poverty is on the rise. And there’s something else as well…
For those who are at home, working and trying to make it through, there are other problems at bay. Binge-eating has emerged as a leading issue. And binge-eating can easily lead to unwanted weight gain, which, in turn, has links to heightened depression and stress.
Additionally, staying locked up at home all the time can also cause mental health issues. People who are used to meeting up with their friends and family might end up feeling forlorn and left out.
There’s a growing feeling of discontent. This, coupled with the depressing news flowing in from around the world, is a recipe for disaster. In times like these, it’seasy to lose focus—to lose your grip on reality. And we must not let that happen.
We’re sure you understand how important it is, in these times specifically, to stay focused. Don’t lose your grip on the larger picture here. Don’t lose your link to the outside world even though you may feel disconnected from it.
