WEIGHT-LOSS SEMINAR OFFERED

Wellness Seminars director says internal changes must be made first

The holidays are over and it’s once again time to lose that extra weight.

It could be 10, 20, 30, 50 or even 100 pounds.

You’ve tried South Beach , Slim Fast, Medical weight Loss, Atkins and others. You lose weight, but either you never lose enough or it all comes back. How is 2006 going to be different?

Rena Greenberg, author of “The Right Weigh” and director of Wellness seminars, Inc. believes you need to make internal changes in order to ensure permanent weight-loss success. She will bring one of her seminars to Livingston County next month.

“We’ve all been on diets that base their success on deprivation,” said Greenberg, who had a sugar addiction, “But for long-term, permanent success you have to break the old programming that causes us to overeat.”

Greenberg’s approach is to work on the internal voices in every individual that makes excuses for bad eating habits.

“These voices will say, ‘I always overeat, hormones, no willpower, too old and one cookie won’t hurt’, “ she explained. “That’s not who we are and I want to help people take control of their life. When people stop listening to these subconscious, negative voices, they can become aware of what areas they need to make changes in order to take control of their eating habits and their life.”

Typical triggers for weight problems are overeating (clean your plate), emotional eating (eating when bored, happy, depressed, angry), negative programming (start the diet tomorrow inner voice), and perceived pleasure (love to eat and eat).

Greenberg wants to help people change their eating habits by changing the way they think about themselves. “I help people discover how to love their self-image and want to take care of themselves.”

“People with a positive self-image will choose to be more active and choose healthier foods. Once we believe at a subconscious level that we’re slim and fit, we’ll take pleasure in ordering a salad or put on the sneakers for a walk.”

Greenberg said she helps people reprogram their subconscious through practicing self-hypnosis techniques. As a certified hypnotherapist and neurolinguistic programming practitioner, she guides participants to discover and overcome obstacles that have prevented weight loss, and to keep it off.

“I want people to live to their great potential,” she said. “It’s a vision of ourselves looking healthy, slender, fit and experiencing pleasure not related to eating. I just give them the tool to get their vision.”

Greenberg stresses that once the subconscious bad habits are overcome, each person will find their individual way to permanent weight loss. Since 1989, she has helped more than 100,000 people achieve their weight goals.

She has taught her weight loss techniques at more than 75 hospitals and at major corporations, including Walt Disney World, Home Depot and AT&T. Success stories range anywhere from 20 to 100 pounds.

Interested weight-loss candidates can begin their road to self-awareness with Greenberg’s program in two ways.

This month, Greenberg’s first book “The Right Weigh: Six Steps to Permanent Weight Loss used by over 100,000 People” was published and is available for purchase at local bookstores for $14.95.

The book takes the reader through six simple procedures in 40 days using self-hypnosis, neurolingistic programming and a technique called “Remembrance.” It teaches the readers to trust themselves around food, stop eating when not hungry and to naturally become more active.

“You feel good from day one,” she said. “You learn natural relaxation t techniques, feel freer, lighter, and more in control of yourself.”

The other opportunity is to attend one of Greenberg’s weight-loss seminars. During the two-hour hypnosis seminar, Greenberg helps participants tap into their conscious and subconscious eating habits.

“Most people associate pleasure with the wrong foods. I help them tap into the greater power within themselves to make better choices and implant a new self-image.”

“Hypnosis teaches us to focus away from the sugars. Instead, we focus on creating a new, healthier future and fitting into our clothes. Most people feel relaxed, alert and energized after hypnosis.” After attending the two-hour seminar, Greenberg recommends daily practice with the take-home audiocassette or CD for reinforcement.

“We have bad habits that have been going on since childhood. We need to go beyond the old programming by listening to the tape and using the handbook.”

“I enjoy food more now, than when I was eating compulsively,” Greenberg concluded. “Through this program, I give people the power to choose foods that will keep them healthy and sustain their lives.” Greenberg also offers a stop-smoking seminar using hypnosis for the same fee.
