AUTHOR ON CRUISE CONTROL WHILE WRITING FIRST WEIGHT-LOSS BOOK

By William Burr, Suncoast News Staff

Rena Greenberg knew she was destined to write a book about losing weight using both a practical and spiritual approach. The challenge was finding time to do it.

Rather than lounging on the pool deck, the ultra-busy Greenberg responded to her literary calling on a Caribbean cruise.

She wrote all 155 pages of her first book, “The Right Weigh: Six Steps to Permanent Weight Loss”, while on a weeklong vacation with family and friends. Hay House Publishing is set to release the book tomorrow, Jan. 1.

“I knew if I was going to do it all, it would happen then, on the cruise ship, where there are no distractions, no phones, no seminars, and my kids and husband were happy,” said Greenberg. “Once I started, I couldn’t stop.”

Than 75 hospitals, including Helen Ellis Memorial Hospital , here. She says she has helped 100,000 people achieve their weight goals since 1989.

Greenberg describes “The Right Weigh” as a 40-day, six step approach that addresses the importance of making changes in diet and activity level.

Using self-hypnosis, neurolinguistic programming and a technique she calls “remembrance,” Greenberg’s program is designed to help people “do the inner work necessary to change the way they think about food.”

“The Right Weigh” teaches you how to change your perceptions of yourself and the foods you’re eating by tapping into the vast source of power within, and reconnecting to your infinite spiritual nature,” she said.

“In this way, the wisest part of yourself guides you to make excellent choices to improve the quality of your life, and live healthfully at the mind, body, heart and spirit levels.”

Those who follow her program, Greenberg says, will find themselves naturally craving healthier foods, and being indifferent to unhealthy, fattening or high-sugar foods.

“This program shows you how to get past the obstacles that have held you back from losing weight and keeping it off,” said the Sarasota resident.

A graduate of City University of New York with a degree in bio-psychology, Greenberg is a certified hypnotherapist through the National Guild of Hypnotists.

She is also a certified neurolinguistic programming practitioner, as well as a nationally certified biofeedback therapist and an ordained minister. She has appeared on numerous television and radio programs.

Writing the book, however, ranks as one of her best experiences, she said.

“I just had the feeling that I was supposed to write a book,” Greenberg said. “There is so much more that I can give in a book than a two-hour seminar.”

Barnes & Noble has ordered 5,000 copies of Greenberg’s book, which costs $14.95. It is also available on Amazon.com.

Greenberg has retained New York-based literary agent Linda Konner. While shopping for a publisher for “The Right Weigh”, Konner received many positive responses. She chose Hay House Publishing, because it specializes in marketing self-help and transformational books.

In the meantime, she negotiated a deal with McGraw Hill for her second book focusing on food addiction. That book is scheduled to be released early in 2007.

Greenberg will present her next weight-loss seminar at Helen Ellis Memorial Hospital on Saturday, Jan. 14 at 1 pm. The cost if $69, including reinforcement material. Participants who sign up online at http://www.easywillpower.com/will save $10.
